SELECTIONS - 5 January 2007

POOMA selections:

Port Lincoln 2-7 La Peru [3]
Port Lincoln 7-5 Boy John [3]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Swan Hill 2-1, 6-3

Comments: Only 1 from 4 yesterday returning $2.40. I commented that I'd be surprised if Saffir Simpson got beaten but the closer it got to the race the less I liked its chances so I didn't back it even though it got out to good odds. It really doesn't look to be much of a horse. Irish Najaba was also never a chance at Colac, running disappointingly to finish last. Today's POOMAs are both at Port Lincoln. 2-7 La Peru is creeping up to a win. She's still a Maiden after 15 runs though her past 4 runs since moving from NSW to SA have been OK including a last start 4th in Class 1 company. 7-5 Boy John has won 5 of his last 6 at Port Lincoln and was beaten a wart in the other. He'll need to overcome a wide gate but that'll just make the price better.
