Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ascot 1-2
Comments: Boy John turns up again as a POOMA and is selected by the same system that picked him to win a few weeks back. His whole career has been at Port Lincoln and he's been in amazing recent form, winning 6 of his last 7 and getting beaten a wart in the other. He keeps rising in weight relative to his competition and keeps beating them so let's hope he can carry the 59kg to victory today. Ascot 6-4 Blind Power won really nicely up at Bunbury last time and is well placed to open his account at this track. Ipswich 2-1 Buckbeat probably isn't very well weighted given that his three career wins have been at Chinchilla, Mt Perry and Warra but he's got high speed and will be in front for a fair way. Ascot 1-2 Westerly Breeze comes from that 40%+ s/r non-POOMA last start winner system I mentioned recently. This horse settled back off them last time, same as it did at Pinjarra, and rounded them up to win contemptuously. She really does look to be an up and comer in the style of a horse like Belle Bizarre early in her career. A runner from my black book is also running around today. Port Lincoln 3-6 Yoshi's Opal kicked off her career in a 1200m 3YO Class 2 event, dropped out the back early and steamed home for 2nd. It was an impressive run but I don't know why she's running in an 1000m Class 1 when there's a 1200m Maiden on the card. Maybe trainer Angelo thinks his other horse can win that event.
