He's by General Nediym and will be better suited on top of the ground - though there's potential for some rain at Sale. A significant jockey change with Craig Williams taking the ride.

The ruffies system is pretty much due to strike a winner anytime soon but only has 4 chances before it moves into loss and disqualifies itself as a POOMA system. It's been performing well for the place at 25.7% s/r with 53% profit, which I've been using for multiples quite successfully.

In Eagle Farm race 6, 7-Wild And Windswept looks pretty well placed to me.

In the Premiere Stakes I like the topweight, Dance Hero, to win again. I can't see Spark Of Life crossing to lead and, concerningly, the horse has concussion plates (front) on today. A change of footwear from standard racing plates to concussion plates is a sign that the horse is feeling its feet. They can go around without me. Others at Rosehill today in the same boat are: 3-6 Pendragon, 5-1 God's Own, 5-14 Crown Town and 7-2 Swick.

Keep an eye on one with the emergency number form at Bathurst today. 2-12 Ruby Frisco comes out of some strong Maiden races at Newcastle and Gosford last time in and might be an each-way chance. At Murtoa; in race 2 there's one that should be just about right in 4-Pride Of Prospect.

Ballarat 2-10 Regal Reg [65/15.4%/204%]

Not much of a betting day today. Regal Reg is by a below average wet track sire in Racer's Edge but there's three of them in the race so it might even things up. The bottom horse looks the one to beat there.

I've been to the races at Gundagai. It's a nice track though quite tight and horses need to be somewhere near the lead 400m out. I had a horse go around as 7/4 favourite in a Maiden there some years ago. Ken Callaughan from Goulburn had a first starter in the race, a filly who looked OK in the parade ring. She was 2nd favourite. I was standing at the 100m mark and as the Callaughan filly roared past a comfortable 8 lengths in front I looked back to see where my bloke was. He ran 3rd. The filly's name was Triko and she ended up winning 11 races from 28 starts, 8 of which were city races including 2 Listed races, and $245K prizemoney. Bit unlucky for the rest of us to run into her in a Gundagai Maiden!

Gundagai is one of those tracks were a jockey with a bit of local knowledge can make a big difference. In the last 5 years the most successful jockeys that are engaged today are: J Whitney (12 wins), P Robl (9), B Clark (7) and B Ward (7).
