SELECTIONS - 30 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Coleraine 8-2 Sacred Sumardi [6]
Port Lincoln 5-2 Top Commander [23]
Sandown 4-1 Weekend Hussler [23]
Swan Hill 8-3 Golfyn [24]
York 3-9 Sansu [7]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Launceston 7-5
Port Lincoln 6-1
Sandown 5-3
Swan Hill 9-13
York 1-2, 7-2

Comments: Coleraine 8-2 Sacred Sumardi was going for 6 in a row when 8th in a good field at Bendigo. He drops back in grade, even though it's a Cup race, and should just about rack up another win. Port Lincoln 5-2 Top Commander is thereabouts in his races but doesn't look very well placed here so I'd want around $8 to get interested. Sandown 4-1 Weekend Hussler was unbelievable in his win at Sandown last time when sitting outside the leader in a strongly run race, taking over on the corner and winning by 8L. Swan Hill 8-3 Golfyn hasn't won for ages but should be competitive in this RB72 race, which is only around Class 1 level. York 3-9 Sansu has been a beaten favourite at 4 of her 8 starts. It looks like she'll start favourite again and today might be her day.

Black Book: Sandown 6-17 Formal Attire didn't quite get there for us last time when beaten by an OK type in Chairmanoftheboard. He'll be nice odds today and worth a bet.

SELECTIONS - 29 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Cairns 5-2 Hotelier [2]
Belmont 2-1 Glory Hunter [23]
Rockhampton 2-4 Danzamonkey [2,10,11,15,23]
Rockhampton 6-3 Cougar Trick [23]
Seymour 6-10 Sostenuto [7]
Wagga 1-12 Tinge Of Silver [25]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Cairns 1-6
Belmont 5-5, 8-9, 8-13
Cheltenham 5-1, 7-1
Mornington 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 7-10
Seymour 7-13, 10-12
Wagga 7-7, 7-10, 8-5

(* Any updates at Belmont after final details are in *)

Comments: Cairns 5-2 Hotelier is a good horse in this area with 8 from 14. He's trained on the track by top trainer Roy Chillemi and should go pretty close. Belmont 2-1 Glory Hunter has a terrific record and must be a fun horse to own. He'll sit on the pace and should just about win. Rockhampton 2-4 Danzamonkey has come out of umpteen systems today so he'll put a hole in things if he can't get home. He's another with a good record and 6/4 seems the right price. Rockhampton 6-3 Cougar Trick moved north from SE Qld four runs ago and has been competitive enough to suggest he'll be in the finish of this race, which lacks depth. Seymour 6-10 Sostenuto was beaten home by that weak animal Protesta last time out so that's not much of a form recommendation. In his favour is that he's only had three starts and he hasn't got much to beat here. Wagga 1-12 Tinge Of Silver was beaten less than 2L when 8th at Goulburn after an OK run at Rosehill. It's a competitive Maiden so we should get nice e/w odds, which is worth a go.

SELECTIONS - 28 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Stawell 2-10 Rincewald [25]
Stawell 5-4 Perero [21]
Stawell 8-1 Cool Point [24]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Ballina 6-8, 7-4
Darwin 2-2
Stawell 1-9, 6-2, 6-3, 7-7, 8-4, 8-6

Comments: Our selection yesterday, Protesta, has a heart as big as Roger. Never to be backed again. Harsh, I know. But fair. Stawell 2-10 Rincewald was in the market at his first run when finishing midfield in a reasonably strong 1400m Maiden at Bendigo. Steps up in trip and this is much weaker so trainer Moody would want to see a better effort. Stawell 5-4 Perero took a while to break his duck but he did the job in good style and these RB62 events are pretty weak so he should run well again. Stawell 8-1 Cool Point put together three on the trot before an even effort in this grade last time out in the highweight race at Pakenham when all horses on the day were ridden by jumps jockeys. Wayne Hokai will handle him better and he should go well.

Black Book: Moonee Valley 5-11 In The Shadows has won 2/5 for the BB returning more than $16 and nearly got home last time. He'll race right on the pace and looks a great e/w chance again. Moonee Valley 6-8 Lazer Sharp has won 4/10 as a BBer also at a nice profit. Didn't do much first up at his run run for the Hayes' stable. Is heading towards the Cups so would want to show up here. As people know, Moonee Valley 6-10 Master O'Reilly has been my long range Caulfield Cup horse for yonks. He's not qualified for that race yet so connections would be keen to score here to gain a start. Given the way he won last time he should go close again.

Thursday, September 27, 2007

SELECTIONS - 27 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Bendigo 3-9 Protesta [7]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Nil

Comments: Bendigo 3-9 Protesta had been running around in stronger city grade before returning from a spell and running 2nd as favourite at Mornington, getting home well. The step up in trip should suit and I expect him to take this one out.

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

SELECTIONS - 26 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Balaklava 7-2 Imperial Rain [21]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Balaklava 2-5, 5-5
Belmont 2-4, 5-11, 8-14
Coffs Harbour 3-3, 6-12, 7-2
Mackay 6-9
Moonee Valley 3-1, 3-6, 4-1, 6-5, 6-9

(* Any updates at Belmont later on - UPDATED *)

Comments: Balaklava 7-2 Imperial Rain drops a little bit in grade here and is going to be OK e/w odds. He's got a win and placing from two outings at Balaklava and even though he's only 2/23 most of those runs have been in the city. Expect him to be finishing hard.

Black Book: I want to have a look at Belmont 6-14 Zoom Star to assess his BB future. He killed them when steaming home from last to win his Maiden before winning in Class 2 company and then stepping up quickly in grade. He looks outgraded here, as well, but if he runs OK and then drops in Class we might follow him. Moonee Valley 1-11 Guild slaughtered them at Cranbourne when winning his Maiden and was then a beaten favourite at her next two starts in town when disappointing over the last 200m. She's certainly shown enough talent to be a chance but she's another I'll assess after this run.

Tuesday, September 25, 2007

SELECTIONS - 25 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Ipswich 4-2 Cristi's Idol [10]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Ballarat 1-2, 1-10, 5-8, 7-2, 8-15

Comments: Ipswich 4-2 Cristi's Idol doesn't have much of a winning record, to say the least, at just 1 from 25. He's run 7 2nds, which seems to indicate he doesn't find much at the finish so I won't be going anywhere near the morning line odds of $2.80 but he must be an e/w chance.

Monday, September 24, 2007

SELECTIONS - 24 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Kilmore 2-11 Simon's Joy [22]
Townsville 4-4 Flipper McCartney [10]
Townsville 6-6 Lidiana [2,11,23]
Townsville 7-9 Shenna's Pride [10]
Townsville 9-9 Honour Happy List [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Townsville 9-3

Comments: A few selections today and all look to have a fair chance. Simon's Joy looks the best of them but she'll be short. The system that picked her doesn't have many selections but since going live is 11/21, which is right on expectation.

Sunday, September 23, 2007

SELECTIONS - 23 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Murray Bridge 4-6 Blackstone Rose [12]
Sunshine Coast 5-3 Sommersea Drive [10]
Sunshine Coast 6-3 Kid's Show [23]
Sunshine Coast 7-11 Sleepy Jackson [10,23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Colac 8-3
Hobart 9-1
Murray Bridge 3-1
Northam 6-5, 7-3, 7-4, 7-5
Sale 6-1, 9-3, 10-5

Comments: Murray Bridge 4-6 Blackstone Rose setted near the rear against six opponents first up and smashed them in the straight. She's back in distance here but it's not much of a field so she'll start odds on and go close. Sunshine Coast 5-3 Sommersea Drive has won his last three at this track. He's back in trip but looks a good chance here. Sunshine Coast 6-3 Kid's Show has also won his last three here and the step up in trip looks absolutely ideal. Sunshine Coast 7-11 Sleepy Jackson is a Black Booker who won nicely last time. He's up to 1200m and up in grade but has a nice weight drop and should get home again. In other races, former black booker Sunburnt Land runs around in the last at Sale. He's a very talented horse and seems to be concentrating on the job better this time in. First up he sat deep, went about 15 wide (literally) around the turn and rounded up a good field. He then steamed home at Sandown behind a good type last time so the step up in trip will suit.

Black Book: Northam 6-5 Our Katarina went OK first up behind a pretty good horse. She's back in grade here and looks a good chance to rack up her first win this preparation.

Saturday, September 22, 2007

SELECTIONS - 22 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Caulfield 3-11 Stanzout [23]
Caulfield 4-2 Sleek Chassis [23]
Eagle Farm 2-7 Poncho [10]
Echuca 3-6 Perero [7]
Echuca 5-4 Next Party [24]
Echuca 6-1 Bello Mondo [24]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Belmont 1-7, 4-8
Caulfield 7-9
Darwin 1-5, 2-2, 3-1, 4-3, 4-7, 5-2
Eagle Farm 3-5, 4-3, 6-3, 6-8, 6-12, 8-1
Echuca 8-12
Morphettville 1-2

(* Any updates at Belmont later on *)

Comments: Caufield 3-11 Stanzout is a black booker that has been racing out of his grade this preparation and returns to a suitable event here. Has finished just over a couple of lengths behind Gold Edition at his last two so should be a huge chance today. Beadman will ride him well though we'll get a couple of points less than we'd like. Caulfield 4-2 Sleek Chassis returns to the scene of her best performances. Has a horror draw to overcome and I'd really want double e/w odds to have a go. Eagle Farm 2-7 Poncho ran an OK race last time but is an in and out type. It's only a small field and they're not much good so should be a chance. Echuca 3-6 Perero has had 10 goes for 6 placings and gets his chance to break through today in what looks an average Maiden field. Echuca 5-4 Next Party looks a really good chance given her excellent recent form. Echuca 6-1 Bello Mondo is another who looks a top chance on recent form so I might work a bit of an all up between the three at this track.

Black Book: Caulfield 4-4 Jestatune comes to Melbourne from Perth where she scored a last stride first up win. This is harder but she's a good type and will be a fair e/w chance.

Friday, September 21, 2007

SELECTIONS - 21 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Toowoomba 4-4 Wicket [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Bendigo 7-1

Comments: Toowoomba 4-4 Wicket was beaten as an odds on favourite first up when leading before being up on the pace on the heavy track last time and dropping out from the corner to be beaten a hundred yards. Back on top of the ground will suit and the horse obviously has shown something if he went around at $1.40 fiirst up so he must be a fair chance here.

Black Book: Bendigo 6-5 Great Wall Of China was scratched from the midweek Sandown meeting when he looked to have a good winning chance. He's $1.90 on the morning line and I expect him to return to racing with a win. Canberra 3-5 Grand Rhumba disappointed last time behind De Jetcat and steps up 500m today. He's by Rhthym whose progeny seem to excell over all trips (my old neddy, Into The Night, was a crack sprinter, of course, while Ethereal won a Melbourne Cup) so he might go OK but I don't normally want to back them when stepping up quickly like he is.

Thursday, September 20, 2007

SELECTIONS - 20 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Cranbourne 8-13 New Sensation [21]
Penola 1-2 French Trap [7]
Rockhampton 1-9 Barely Legal [10]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Cranbourne 7-9
Penola 8-6, 9-9
Rockhampton 6-7

(* Any updates after Narrogin details are in *)

Comments: Cranbourne 8-13 New Sensation has drawn well, will sit close to the speed and has the right form to win this race. Penola 1-2 French Trap has demonstrated that he has a distinct lack of ticker in his 12 previous runs. He'll go to the front and so I suppose connections think he can get away with a race around the tight Penola track. Rockhampton 1-9 Barely Legal has improved at each run and if she can repeat her last effort then should be in with a show.

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

SELECTIONS - 19 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Gawler 4-6 The Big Bay Band []
Gold Coast 4-1 Winnie's Band [10]
Sandown 3-10 La Chasseuse [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Belmont 5-7
Gawler 6-9
Gold Coast 7-3
Sandown 5-6, 7-10

(* Any updates at Belmont later on *)

Comments: A bit of an entertainment theme with our three selections today. Gawler 4-6 The Big Bay Band has been steaming home over shorter trips and it makes you wonder why they haven't stepped him up before. He's $10 on the morning line but will start about half those odds and looks a top chance. Gold Coast 4-1 Winnie's Band steps up in trip and has to lump a big weight. I don't like it or the other favourite, Sudden Storm. Perhaps Miss Falsterbo can go on from her OK first run and be a threat at good odds. Sandown 3-10 La Chasseuse flogged them here first up last time in and must be a fair chance to run a good race in what is a pretty strong race. Horses on the limit weight in handicaps have a much poorer record than those above the limit, of course, but in these new ratings band races it seems that the record is even worse so bear that in mind when assessing this one's odds.

Black Book: Sandown 5-3 In The Shadows won for us at double figure odds first up and then won at $5 last time out. He and Chairmanoftheboard, who beat our black booker Formal Attire last time, look the two chances in the race.

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

SELECTIONS - 18 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

There are no POOMA selections today

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Warrnambool 6-1, 9-16

Comments: If you have a bet today then you're desperate.

Monday, September 17, 2007

SELECTIONS - 17 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Wodonga 2-1 Head Prefect [24]
Wodonga 9-1 Legionnaire [24]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Nil

Comments: A couple of selections from a system currently underperforming, though I think it'll turn out OK, as it picks the odd $20+ winner. Head Prefect looks a fair chance and Legionnaire drops a fair bit in grade for this after only one start in Australia since coming from HK. He won a couple of races there so it wouldn't surprise to see him perform well today.

Sunday, September 16, 2007

SELECTIONS - 16 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Devonport 9-3 Andrias [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Devonport 4-8, 6-8
Gold Coast 4-3, 5-10
Pakenham 3-1

(* Any updates at York after final details are in *)

Comments: Devonport 9-3 Andrias has a terrific 4/6 first up record and gets in here with a 4kg claim and if e/w odds are on offer then that would suit me fine.

Black Book: Devonport 4-2 Geronimo Stilton ran well enough for 2nd last time to stay in the BB. He got home well and the step up to 1800m should suit.

Saturday, September 15, 2007

SELECTIONS - 15 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Geelong 4-6 Teskara [23]
Kalgoorlie 2-2 Red Fish Blue Fish [23]
Morphettville 4-1 Seattle Lass [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Belmont 1-2, 5-4, 8-11
Eagle Farm 9-3
Kalgoorlie 3-8, 6-2
Moonee Valley 1-1, 3-17, 4-2, 6-8, 7-5, 7-10, 7-11
Morphettville 6-10

(* Any updates from WA later on *)

Comments: Geelong 4-6 Teskara is in our black book is an up and coming 3YO that looks pretty well placed in this race. If 5/2 is available then that will be fine by me. Kalgoorlie 2-2 Red Fish Blue Fish has run well enough first up in the past to be a chance in what is not a particularly strong field. If double figure odds are available then I'll have a go. Morphettville 4-1 Seattle Lass has only missed a place once in her 7 start career and that was in town. She's been in good form and she looks suited back in distance after a few weeks off.

Black Book: Moonee Valley 4-3 Little Arrow is a pretty good filly that looks well placed for a successful return here. There'll be a fair speed with Bel Mer running along in the lead, which will give Little Arrow her chance to get off the fence and run her down. Gladwell looks the other chance there. Moonee Valley 7-7 Stanzout has been running OK but looks well out of his depth here. When he went into the BB it wasn't because I thought he was up to Group company. Moonee Valley 7-11 Vormista was slaughtered by the jockey last time out after running a slashing 4th behind the flying Lucky Secret at her first go in black type company. She's probably not that well suited at WFA in what is the strongest field we've seen in any race all year Australia wide but will run OK.

Friday, September 14, 2007

SELECTIONS - 14 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Deagon 3-4 Mirabilis [7]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Ararat 6-2
Deagon 5-3

Comments: The response by the racing industry to the EI crisis has been pretty interesting, especially in NSW and QLD where they're running meetings restricted to horses trained at the track. Deagon has been a training centre outside of Brisbane for umpteen years but hasn't seen an official race for something like 66 years. It's a tight track, suited to front runners and fields will be restricted to 10 runners. Deagon 3-4 Mirabilis is will drop back to near the rear of the field over this trip so will have to unleash a mighty sprint to win around this track. He's odds on this morning so I'll give that a miss.

Thursday, September 13, 2007

SELECTIONS - 13 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Northam 1-3 Capuchin [12, 16]
Townsville 5-1 Honour Happy List [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Northam 1-3, 6-5
Townsville 3-9

(* Any updates at Northam when final details are in - UPDATED *)

Comments: Townsville 5-1 Honour Happy List is like the pick yeterday that looked to have no hope before leading them a merry chase and weakening out to tail the field home. This one drops back 960m in distance and will be tailing them for a fair portion of the race. She might pick up a few of them in the straight but I'd want $20+ to get interested.

Wednesday, September 12, 2007

SELECTIONS - 12 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Toowoomba 3-9 Stipulation [23]
Toowoomba 7-2 Kutalo [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Werribee 3-4, 3-5

(* Any updates after final details at Pinjarra are in *)

Comments: Toowoomba 3-9 Stipulation looks no hope, to be honest, but at least there'll be a big price on offer to tempt us. He'll run around with no weight on her back after the 4kg claim for the apprentice. The only positive thing going for him is he's trained by a bloke that knows a bit about the caper. Toowoomba 7-2 Kutalo is a pretty good horse and has an 8/14 record at this track. There's a bit of pace in this race so he's going to have to work hard to get his normaly forward position so I'd want better odds than the $2.50 prepost.

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

SELECTIONS - 11 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Rockhampton 2-2 Outer Rock [10]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Belmont 7-10
Kilmore 7-9, 8-6
Rockhampton 3-6

Comments: Both POOMAs and the black booker home yesterday for a pretty handy $10+ return. Rockhampton 2-2 Outer Rock ran well enough at his first run up north to be a chance in this weak looking race.

Monday, September 10, 2007

SELECTIONS - 10 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Sunshine Coast 8-2 Kid's Show [23]
Wangaratta 1-7 Grand Journey [15]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Wangaratta 7-6

Comments: Sunshine Coast 8-2 Kid's Show has won his last couple nicely and looks to be a fair chance of making it three on the trot from the good draw. Wangaratta 1-7 Grand Journey ran a couple of 2nds behind last Saturday's long price winner Tan Tat De Lago before drawing the carpark and not being beaten too far, though finishing last, behind Gabbidon. That's strong form for this so expect a short price.

Black Book: Sunshine Coast 5-6 Sleepy Jackson hunted forward hard from his wide gate last time and got nutted on the line by a good horse. Drops back to 1000m and looks the goods here.

Sunday, September 09, 2007

SELECTIONS - 9 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Bendigo 9-2 Fivecougarsthanks [1]
Gold Coast 6-3 Mashudu [23]
Kalgoorlie 7-4 Swahili [10]
Mortlake 8-2 Allenby's Mate [24]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Bendigo 7-9
Gold Coast 4-6
Hobart 2-5, 5-2, 9-4, 9-11
Kalgoorlie 6-3
Mortlake 6-4

Comments: Updates at Kalgoorlie when final details are in.

Saturday, September 08, 2007

SELECTIONS - 8 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Belmont 7-6 Secret Enigma [23]
Eagle Farm 1-10 Conley's Choice [25]
Warwick Farm 2-12 Latif [25]
Warwick Farm 4-1 El Cambio [12]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Eagle Farm 4-2, 5-6, 5-16
Flemington 6-2, 8-9
Morphettville 4-2, 5-5, 5-7

(* Any updates at Belmont later on *)

Comments: Belmont 7-6 Secret Enigma has a 121212 formline so he's due to win again and will be reasonably shorts odds to do that. Eagle Farm 1-10 Conleys Choice drops in class after running in an open race last time out when only beaten 2.6L. The track is heavy but he's by Redoute's Choice and they tend to be OK on it. Warwick Farm 2-12 Latif is another that drops in class after running 5th in an R0 race last time. She sat on the pace and weakened in that race so the step up in trip isn't necessarily in her favour so I'd be a little careful about taking less than e/w odds. Warwick Farm 4-1 El Cambio won in Group 3 company last time out, which puts him in a different class to the rest of them. If I can get $1.50 then I'll have a go.

Black Book: Belmont 2-5 Our Katarina proved herself to be a talented type last time in and was certainly profitable for the BB. She's into open age company now so I want to assess this run. Flemington 9-8 Master O'Reilly has been my long range Cups pick for over six months and now that the NSW horses are ruled out his chances improve. He ran well first up but is yet to run a drum second up so it's worth being a little bit careful not to take short odds. Warwick Farm 7-2 Fiumicino was another that was good to us last time in and he must be a fair chance in this race first up.

Friday, September 07, 2007

SELECTIONS - 7 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Canberra 5-8 Grand Rhumba [23]
Sandown 6-5 Barlinnie [19]
Sandown 9-9 Sanjuan [19]
Toowoomba 4-9 Stipulation [23]
Toowoomba 6-3 Aurtobe [1]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Alice Springs 2-4
Canberra 1-4, 6-2
Moe 10-5
Sandown 3-6, 5-8, 8-1, 8-7
Toowoomba 4-4, 7-8

Comments: Canberra 5-8 Grand Rhumba is in our black book is an up and coming 3YO that looks pretty well placed in this race. If 5/2 is available then that will be fine by me. Toowoomba 4-9 Stipulation has run well enough first up in the past to be a chance in what is not a particularly strong field. If double figure odds are available then I'll have a go. Toowoomba 6-3 Aurtobe has only missed a place once in her 7 start career and that was in town. She's been in good form and she looks suited back in distance after a few weeks off.

SELECTIONS - 6 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

There are no POOMA selections today

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Ballarat 1-4

Comments: Any updates at Northam when final details are in. It looks a spectacularly boring day.

Wednesday, September 05, 2007

SELECTIONS - 5 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Belmont 6-1 Casper Cowboy [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Balaklava 1-2
Belmont 3-4, 6-16
Gold Coast 5-8
Seymour 1-7, 3-6, 5-7, 8-6, 8-11

Comments: Any updates when final details at Belmont are in.

Black Book: Belmont 6-5 Jestatune won her first three starts nicely before placing in good Group 2 and Group 3 races. This looks a suitable race for her return to racing. Seymour 8-6 Formal Attire got the money for us first up and even though this is a pretty good field he should go close.

SELECTIONS - 2 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Kalgoorlie 7-9 Red Fish Blue Fish [23]
Kalgoorlie 9-1 Landscapes [23]
Kalgoorlie 10-6 Shiroko [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Cranbourne 11-3, 11-7, 12-7, 12-11, 12-12, 12-13
Launceston 1-7, 2-3, 2-8, 3-3, 7-1

Comments: Kalgoorlie 7-9 Red Fish Blue Fish has a 4/5 record and has shown herself to be a tough competitor. She's drawn to be near the lead at her first step up in trip, which should suit, as she's by Blackfriars. Kalgoorlie 9-1 Landscapes has won 2/4 since moving to the west. He's drawn off the track here and given that he's normally near the lead he might have to work early to get across so I don't want to take less than $3.50. Kalgoorlie 10-6 Shiroko took a while to win her Maiden but looks suited in this Restricted handicap so e/w odds will do me.

SELECTIONS - 1 September 2007

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

Belmont 8-10 Secret Agenda [23]
Caulfield 6-3 Royal Asscher [23]

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Belmont 3-6, 8-2
Caulfield 2-8, 7-1, 8-8, 9-6, 10-14
Hobart 8-2

Comments: Belmont 8-10 Secret Agenda has been in good form in Restricted races lately. Has to overcome her car park draw but looks a good e/w chance. Caulfield 6-3 Royal Asscher got home well to win first up over 1000m and the step to 1200m should suit. She'll have to go forward from her gate, especially with the rail out 10m, and will need a bit of luck to get close to the rail so I wouldn't want to take a short price in this field.

Black Book: Caulfield 9-7 Stanzout was a tad disappointing last time when 3rd as favourite behind Bon Hoffa. He's probably not up to this race. Hobart 1-2 Geronimo Stilton is on his last chance in the BB and I want to see a good run today after his last two plugging, midfield efforts. Morphettville 7-5 Lazer Sharp did the job for us beautifully last time in and is now in the Hayes' stable. Is heading towards the big cups races so won't be fully wound up for this, I wouldn't think, but will run a big race on class alone. Morphettville 8-12 Vormista was fantastic last time out behind Lucky Secret when steaming home. I'll have her one-out in the quaddie in this.
