Comments: 1 from 5 yesterday. We got off to a poor start with Townsville race 3 in which the two selections could only manage a 3rd between them in what was a rough house affair that saw Spacely fall at the 150m mark. 10 minutes later and Cool World failed by a wart to land the big end of the prize at Stawell in what was a good effort at his first try at 2000m. Back Of House then overcame a big weight and step up in trip to score well though I thought the $4.10 was too short. A couple of hours later Telepathic proved that its last run 2nd was a fluke when it was a well beaten favourite at Albany. Slight loss for the day and the POOMA results are now heading to where I expect them long term - 36% strike rate at 20% profit. Gold Coast 4-1 De Castella comes off a couple of 2nds, will sit handy and go pretty close though I wouldn't be taking less than about $2.80. Warwick Farm 1-3 Maltese won well as an odds on favourite first up at Hawkesbury before beginning badly, working up outside the leader and weakening into 5th beaten 7.4L by Mimi Lebrock, which people are talking about as a contender for the major races in the spring. Will be good to see the old warrior and international jumps champions, Karasi, resume racing in the last at Sandown.
