Comments: Gee, it was a disappointing run from Ironside yesterday even if he did have to do a bit of work out wide. He might be one of those horses that have to be kept fresh. The two POOMAs at Rockhampton today both come from a system with an expected s/r of 30%. Its live performance is over 40% and that disparity is large enough to suggest it's due for a bit of a drought, which might start with 5-3 Private Dogde, as he doesn't look especially well in and his only win came at Emerald. 6-1 Sequalo Blue has racked up a hat trick of wins and looks a strong chance to make it four in a row today. However, I won't be taking odds on, as it jumps in weight and class. The selection at MV, 4-4 Preceptor, comes from my all time favourite system that went live on 28/6/04 and has a 28/57 record since then at 110% profit. It's an even field and he must be a chance. There's more interest there for me, as he's a Laurel Oak Syndicate horse, which I've had horses with over the years including crack sprinter, Into The Night, and multiple city winner, Gangbuster.
There are a few running at Randwick that I reckon will be a chance today at fair odds starting with 4-4 Annjolino, which goes well at this track and should be around $4.50; 5-6 Spinraad is one I've mentioned before. He is a true duffer in the wet, nearly falling two runs back before spinning his wheels up the straight at Kembla last time on the slow track. He drops in grade and weight and I reckon is going to be a terrific e/w chance. The old marvel, 7-1 Centre Fire, is really well placed, will be right on the pace and look the winner at some point.
