POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Bunbury 5-3 Double Barrel [13]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Bunbury 4-2, 7-13
Murray Bridge 6-1, 6-5, 6-6
Randwick 2-3, 8-8
(* Any updates at Bunbury later on - UPDATED with POOMA *)
Comments: Well, today we have to bid a very fond farewell to a fantastic month that has produced three ~$15 winners and a host of others besides for a terrific profit. May there be many more months like this one to come. Bunbury 5-3 Double Barrel has been in good form at this track with 2 wins and 3 seconds at his last 5 runs at this track. Doesn't look that well weighted but should go close again.
Black Book: Warrnambool 5-2 Hasta Manana finally gets over the jumps for the first time this preparation. As long as the track isn't worse than dead then he'll be winning for us today even with some well performed jumpers in the field.

SELECTIONS - 29 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Port Macquarie 2-1 Fantasy Card [18]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Port Macquarie 1-8, 3-6, 8-7
Townsville 5-4, 7-2
Warrnambool 7-14, 10-7
Comments: POOMAs made a profit by a wart yesterday so that was fine. Port Macquarie 2-1 Fantasy Card is looking to make it four on the trot after a win at Dubbo and then two in a row over this course on rain affected going. Drops in grade but rises in weight, which he will have to carry through the swamp that is the Port Macquarie track today, but should be a great chance again.

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Grafton 5-1 Casino Bob [13]
Queanbeyan 2-8 Beautiful Thea [10]
Queanbeyan 5-3 Pass It On [6]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Grafton 5-1, 7-10
Comments: The POOMAs are having a rollicking good time this month and we had another big price selection land yesterday with the win of Brackley Hatch at an amazing $16, which put the new System 18 well in front. How, in a 10 horse field, he could have gone out that price when he's got a 4:2-1 record at the track and was only up 1kg for winning over the course and in the same class last time is truly beyond me. I'll take it, though! If you were following the non-POOMA selections, as well, then you could have picked up Full On Amy at $20. I had a $10 place all up (knowing they'd be a fair price) on the system selections at Tamworth in races 2,3,4 & 5 and they all ran in the top three paying $1.80, $3.70, $5.10 and $4.70 the place, which returned just under $1,600. I'll take that any day. Mind, you, it's not the best place all up I've seen. I was in South Yarra TAB one day and a bloke had a 4 horse, $5 place all up that returned $5,500. Grafton 5-1 Casino Bob has won his last couple and drops in grade for this. It's an even looking field but the $2.60 on the morning line is too short for me. Queanbeyan 2-8 Beautiful Thea went like a three legged cow last time when favourite here. Has had a month off and is better suited over the shorter journey so I expect her to go close. Queanbeyan 5-3 Pass It On won over this course two weeks ago in a RB57 race. Drops in weight, only goes to a RB62 and has a 6:2-3 record at the track, which is one he must prefer given his 27:3-9 record. Must be a fair chance to bring up win number four.

SELECTIONS - 27 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Tamworth 3-1 Brackley Hatch [18]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Tamworth 2-15, 4-9, 5-6, 7-1, 8-6
Wangaratta 8-10
(* Any updates at Northam later on *)
Comments: Mr Slick was a nice result at $5.30 yesterday but it would have been better if System 18 could have kicked off with a win with Three Amigos, which led until one foot from the line at Ascot. Tamworth 3-1 Brackley Hatch is only up 1kg for his win in this grade and over this course last time out. He goes well here so there's no reason why he can't figure in the finish again.
Black Book: 2/2 for the BB yesterday, both at $1.40. Inarticulate was held up for a fair way before getting through and winning comfortably albeit not by a huge margin. The $1.40 ($1.50 VicTAB) was amazing value for Azzaland, a horse I rated $1.10 which won by 4.5L easing down over the last 100m. He will win big races in his time if he stays sound. I took a $100 trifecta straight out 1,3,2 which paid an amazing $8.50 in the 5 horse race, as there only looked to be one winning chance and two other horses that could run a place. Today Tamworth 6-1 Derivative Receipt was fantastic last time in the Toowoomba Cup to run 5th after being deep all of the way. He'll win this.
Tamworth 3-1 Brackley Hatch [18]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Tamworth 2-15, 4-9, 5-6, 7-1, 8-6

SELECTIONS - 26 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Ascot 2-2 Three Amigos [18]
Ascot 3-1 Wild Frankie [18]
Eagle Farm 2-6 Mr Slick [10]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ascot 7-1
Eagle Farm 2-11
Gold Coast 2-4, 4-1, 6-7
Randwick 7-1
Sandown 5-3, 6-4
(* Any updates at Ascot later on *)
Comments: Today sees the first selections from the new system 18 and they look to have fair chances. Ascot 2-2 Three Amigos has two wins and a 2nd from his last 3 starts and looks to be a fair chance here and if there are any chinks in the armour of Special Reserve then he'll finish on top. Ascot 3-1 Wild Frankie won a harder race nicely last time so you'd think he'd be a great chance here with just 0.5kg more but he's up against a black booker in Inarticulate and that horse is really good so I think Wild Frankie is racing for 2nd. Eagle Farm 2-6 Mr Slick drew off the track and got home nicely for a good 2nd last time over this course. He's drawn slightly better today and should get a good chance late at nice odds.
Black Book: Ascot 3-5 Inarticulate won under a throttle hold first up, never got out of 2nd gear 2nd up and repeated the dose last time over this course. I expect him to win this. Toowoomba 3-1 Azzaland has been terrific at his three wins so far and he'll win this, too, but will be about $1.10, which is a tad short for me.

SELECTIONS - 25 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Gawler 8-4 Circled [10]
Gold Coast 5-2 Agnes Dream [7]
Gold Coast 6-5 Beartracker [13]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Bathurst 5-8, 6-5, 8-5
Flemington 8-14
Gawler 4-6
Kalgoorlie 4-5, 5-1, 6-4, 7-2, 8-11
(* Any updates at Kalgoorlie later on *)
Comments: Our POOMA yesterday was going to win a long way out after the leaders went nuts and collapsed in the straight. Gawler 8-4 Circled is not well placed here. Maybe she can make use of her inside draw, sneak along behind them and have a crack late. Gold Coast 5-2 Agnes Dream is 2/2 at this track. Crossed from wide, led them up and won by a widening 4L last time in sharp time so a repeat performance should see him go close again. Gold Coast 6-5 Beartracker should be half a chance in what is a pretty even race. He's got an awkward draw to overcome but seems well weighted.
Black Book: Gold Coast 4-3 Mini Maizing is a high speed horse that returned from a spell with a win at Roma. He probably won't be able to lead Adelaidee, as she's a real flyer that's resuming for a new stable in this, but will get the suck along behind her from his gate 1 and will get his chance to round her up.
Systems Update: I've suspended systems 2,3,11 & 17 and introduced 18 & 19 both of which have live strike rates of near 50%. Naturally, now they're in the mix they will immediately collapse in a screaming heap but let's hope not.

Balaklava 5-5, 7-1
Canterbury 3-4
Doomben 8-6
Sandown 4-5, 6-13, 8-8
(* Any updates at Ascot later on *)
Comments: Our first POOMA yesterday at Townsville appeared to go wrong in the run and was eased out of the race when he seemed to be going well, which was annoying as I took a 1x2x1x6 quaddie ten times and got the other legs. Nothing much happening today but both Canterbury 3-4 and Sandown 6-13 come from systems with strike rates of around 50% so they might be a couple to follow.

Benalla 9-6 Cocker [13]
Townville 4-3 Motivated [7]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Benalla 8-4
Townsville 3-8, 5-5
Comments: Benalla 9-6 Cocker got home well to win two starts back and then ran his usual even race last time. He's drawn better today but doesn't have much of a winning record so I'd want at least $7 to get interested. Townsville 4-3 Motivated jumps a few grades here but you'd think he'd just have to stand up to win. The price of around $1.50 will make him unbackable, though, which is a problem.

Sunshine Coast 2-4, 8-8
Wagga 3-1, 3-3, 8-2
(* Any updates at Narrogin later on - UPDATED *)
Comments: Well, I potted Sebring and Weekend Hussler yesterday and ended up with enough egg on my face to make an omelette that would feed the US 8th Army. However, my most confident ever POOMA comment yesterday read "Newcastle 6-7 Canny Finch will win this race. He'll be good odds, too" and it duly saluted at $5 when winning easily. I stood him out in the quaddie and picked up half of the $5K result. Narrogin 8-1 Ahabster has been in consistent form and is in a race to suit so he should give us a run for our money.

Toowoomba 3-4, 6-1
(* Any updates at Ascot later on *)
Comments: The big races are all in Sydney and I think that a few of the popular runners will fail. In the Golden Slipper I give no chance to the unbeaten Sebring and Augusta Proud. I'll go for Hips Don't Lie and Sugar Babe as the chances. In the George Ryder Stakes I'm going to pot Weekend Hussler. I'll go for Racing To Win to turn the tables on Mentality with Weekend Hussler to miss a place. I could end up with a lot of egg on my face with that one but beating Triple Honour by a wart with Arlington 3rd is not terrific form for this race. To the POOMAs: Caulfield 6-10 Mondano ran his usual consistent race last time but doesn't look very well placed in this. He'll get a good run from his gate and will be e/w odds so might be a chance at odds. Gold Coast 1-3 Single Bound killed them on the heavy track over this course last time out in the same class. Will lead them up and should go close again. Gold Coast 6-4 Laurie's Lad has won his last two at Toowoomba and this race seems within his scope. He's hard and fit and I expect him to get through the heavy going OK. Gold Coast 8-1 Dardan broke his duck over this course last time. They all seem to have a chance in this race so I'll want $4 to have a go. Newcastle 6-7 Canny Finch will win this race. He'll be good odds, too.
Black Book: Ascot 4-5 Inarticulate is a rising good 'un. Has treated his rivals with contempt at both runs from a spell at Bunbury when winning under a Full Nelson. I expect him to bring up the hat trick and $2.20 would be good odds. Caulfield 4-9 Hasta Manana is in the black book for his jumps ability but if you'd watched his three runs from a spell then you'd have the opinion that Robbie Laing is setting the horse for a kill somewhere. He's been allowed to flop out the back, sit deep and work to the line under his own steam at all of those runs. He ran the quickest 1000m to 400m sectional in the race last time so he's obviously going well. Don't be surprised to see him run a race.

There are no POOMA selections today
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Dubbo 4-13, 6-4, 8-3, 8-10
Mackay 3-2
Port Macquarie 3-1, 8-2, 8-6
Comments: Our POOMA yesterday, Mary's Magique, was only 0.36 outside the 800m track record so that was a fair effort and made the $2.60 look like a fair price even though it was below what I wanted to take. Not much going on today. I'd watch Rocky 7-12 Hellenic Warrior, as he returns to FNQ after campaigning in Brisbane. Has a 9:5-3-1 record at this track so if he's OK might run well. 4-Jazzoom looks the obvious top chance in that race having won at his last three runs over this course.
There are no POOMA selections today
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Dubbo 4-13, 6-4, 8-3, 8-10
Mackay 3-2
Port Macquarie 3-1, 8-2, 8-6

SELECTIONS - 17 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Ipswich 2-4 Mary's Magique [2]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ascot 7-3, 8-3, 8-4, 9-4, 9-5
Hawkesbury 10-9
Ipswich 8-5
Naracoorte 6-2, 7-12
(* Any updates at Ascot later on *)
Comments: Ipswich 2-4 Mary's Magique flogs along, which most of these do, and drawing the inside gate will help her maintain the lead early. She's not that strong but it is only 800m so she'll be in the firing line 100m out but whether she can get home remains to be seen. If I can get $4 then I'll get interested.
Black Book: Ascot 9-11 Cagey Lady ran home well first up and this distance suits second up. This is a pretty hard race but we'll get good odds so I'll be happy to take $10+.

Kalgoorlie 3-2, 4-10, 5-3
Sandown 1-2, 2-4
Strathalbyn 1-2, 2-6, 8-14
(* Any updates at Kalgoorlie later on - UPDATED - No POOMAS *)
Comments: Another nice price winner for the POOMAs with a $17 shot yesterday. The POOMA records are based on NSW TAB dividends and it paid $26 and $29 on QLD and VIC totes so good luck if you got that value. No POOMA selections yet but I expect one at Kalgoorlie once final details are through.
Black Book: Sandown 5-8 Samadji was really good first up before disappointing last time though he may not have appreciated being smacked on the head with another jockey's whip. This race is within his scope so I expect him to go close here.

Taree 5-4, 5-9, 8-2
Townsville 4-2, 4-4, 7-3, 7-9, 8-2
(* Any updates at Albany later on *)
Comments: A few POOMAs today and no time for comments. You'd think that they've all got a chance with the 2-3 quinella looking a strong likelihood in race 8 at Townsville.

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Grafton 3-10, 7-1
Sale 8-11, 8-13
Tamworth 5-11, 6-5, 9-4
Comments: Grafton 2-8 Doo Ron nearly broke her duck over this course last time. This isn't much of a field so she should just about get home. Sale 6-13 Port Isabel has run a couple of fair races at her two runs from a spell in fillies' grade. This is harder but she's drawn to get a good run so I expect her to go close.

Geraldton 5-3 Henry Half Crown [7]
Geraldton 7-5 Lady Savanna [7]
Muswellbrook 2-5 Ray [17]
Muswellbrook 8-3 Brother Bill [11]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Gawler 5-2
Geraldton 4-2, 7-2, 7-4
Hamilton 5-3, 6-11, 6-13, 7-4, 9-5, 9-7
Muswellbrook 6-4, 8-10
Tatura 9-13
(* Any updates at Geraldton later on *)
Comments: Geraldton 5-3 Henry Half Crown went to the front first up and cruised in over this course and in this exact grade. Hasn't won 2nd up but that will change today. Muswellbrook 2-5 Ray is having his first run for a new stable and drops significantly in grade on what he has been meeting. If he runs up to his best then he'll be winning this and might be OK odds, too. Muswellbrook 8-3 Brother Bill won his first two starts here over the 900m scamper before finding them a bit quick at Newcastle. Returned to this course for a good 2nd in a much stronger field than what he meets here so you'd expect him to win.

SELECTIONS - 12 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Gold Coast 2-14 Silver Pegasus [17]
Gold Coast 7-6 Master Illusion [7]
Toowoomba 7-3 Orpen Angel [10]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ascot 4-1, 5-1, 7-1
Doomben 8-12
Gold Coast 1-3, 7-5
Kembla Grange 3-5, 8-3
Toowoomba 3-4
(* Any updates at Ascot later on *)
Comments: It was great to get a $15 POOMA home yesterday after a frustrating time this year that has seen a bunch of $10+ and $20+ horses get narrowly beaten. The other $5 POOMA was beaten a nose x sht 1/2 hd so we could have had an even better day. Gold Coast 2-14 Silver Pegasus comes from a seriously underperforming system. I do expect it to go on a run of wins though this horse might struggle in what is admittedly a weak field. Hopefully it will surprise me. Gold Coast 7-6 Master Illusion won well over this course last time and this is not much harder. Hasn't put two together in a row before but should go close to doing so today. Toowoomba 7-3 Orpen Angel broke her duck here last time. This is not a hard race so she must be some chance though I don't want to take less than $3.
Black Book: What the heck happened to Moreton Bay in yesterday's Albury Cup?? Ran second last... something's not right, clearly. Our other BBer, Gavrilo, went like a three-legged crab. There's something not right there, either, so he's gone from the BB. Morphettville 1-9 Pure Beauty was held up until 50m out before getting a split to score at Ballarat first up. Could have won by miles with a clear crack at them so even though this is a fair jump in grade I expect her to go close.

SELECTIONS - 11 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Albury 8-7 Fubu's Image [10]
Rockhampton 3-5 Ella Dee [10]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Geelong 5-2
Orange 7-3, 9-3
Rockhampton 5-1
Comments: Albury 8-7 Fubu's Image drew wide and never got in last time over 1175m here. Has drawn better and should run a fair race. Rockhampton 3-5 Ella Dee has run a couple of good races since a spell and I think that at double e/w odds she'll go well.
Black Book: Albury 7-6 Moreton Bay has won his last two easily. At this point he's my top Caulfield Cup hope and to retain that spot he'll have to win this. Albury 9-8 Gavrilo looked fantastic at his first start before another win at Canberra and a disappointing 4th of 5 at Randwick. I think he's an extremely smart horse up to black type races so expect him to win here.

SELECTIONS - 10 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Toowoomba 7-3 Nellie Got There [2]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Albury 5-2
Bendigo 2-12, 6-7, 9-9
Bunbury 2-12, 5-10, 6-1, 8-2
Toowoomba 2-7, 7-17, 8-13
Wyong 3-1, 6-1
(* Any updates at Bunbury later on *)
Comments: Toowoomba 7-3 Nellie Got There is an in form, on pace stayer that will need luck from his wide draw and isn't that well weighted against horses he's met previously so I'd want a good $10+ to get interested.
Black Book: Bunbury 8-2 Inarticulate didn't get out of first gear in a facile first up win at this track. Has won both of his second up starts and I think he'll make it 3/3. Toowoomba 7-9 Derivative Receipt us actually well placed in this race after a 4th in the Armidale Cup when he appeared to go into the race a run short. A horse needs to be able to sustain a strong run to win around this track and he is certainly tough enough that the opposition will know he's there.

There are no POOMA selections today
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ascot 5-4
Canterbury 3-4, 7-12
Cranbourne 1-1, 6-12, 7-8
Murray Bridge 3-10, 7-10
(* Any updates at Ascot later on *)
Comments: Not much action today unless a selection comes out at Ascot though I do like the 3-1 into 5-4 all up over there as having a fair chance (update...until 3-1 was scratched, of course). Canterbury 3-4 Rubirose comes out of a high performing, currently non-POOMA system and looks to have a really strong chance at good odds with 2-Highrank looking to be the main danger.

Pakenham 5-1 Armoury [17]
Townsville 4-1 Perugin Thought [10,13]
Townsville 4-4 Hostility [11]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Nil
Comments: Pakenham 5-1 Armoury ran home well at his first start in a Cheltenham Maiden. Looks a leading chance along with Decresendo, which was beaten by a smart one last time. Townsville 4-1 Perugin Thought made it 2/2 since moving to FNQ from Victoria when winning clearly. Steps up to 1200m today but should continue on his winning ways. Townsville 4-4 Hostility looks the logical danger to the other POOMA selection. As mentioned before, I hate it when there are two selections in the one race, as they either both get beaten or the winner is odds on, which means we still lose.

POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Port Macquarie 5-6 Irish Breeze [6,7]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Kilmore 8-1
Port Macquarie 3-4, 6-2, 7-7

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Port Macquarie 3-4, 6-2, 7-7
Comments: You know things are going well when the horse you really thought would win has a jockey who loses their irons and runs last. Port Macquarie 5-6 Irish Breeze easily won a Maiden over this course last time out. An RB57 race is actually easier than most Maidens so you'd have to think she'll go well again.

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ascot 1-2, 6-10, 8-9
Devonport 2-5, 3-3
Kalgoorlie 1-10, 4-2, 4-6
Kembla Grange 4-4
Mudgee 2-14, 4-8
Sale 8-1
Sunshine Coast 1-8
(* Any updates from the west later on *)
Comments: It'll be interesting to see how the new cushion track performs at the Sunshine Coast. Given it's inside the grass track it will probably make barrier positions quite important, unlike the outer track where horses can win from out wide. Kalgoorlie 2-5 Malleroot has finished well for a 2nd and 4th at two runs from a spell. This isn't a very strong field so he should go close. Kalgoorlie 3-2 Two Time started favourite when leading and weakening late first up. Goes fast and the drop in trip will suit so I think he'll win quite comfortably.

SELECTIONS - 5 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Newcastle 2-1 Valuable Asset [8]
Newcastle 3-8 Zazabeau [17]
Tamworth 7-11 Dawlodge [7]
Toowoomba 1-6 Orpen Angel [8,10]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ascot 1-2, 6-10, 8-9
Canterbury 7-11
Caulfield 2-1, 4-3, 5-9, 6-2, 6-4, 6-7
Cheltenham 4-2
Eagle Farm 5-9, 7-8
Gold Coast 7-5
Newcastle 5-1, 7-1, 8-1, 9-1, 9-7
Toowoomba 3-5
(* Any updates at Ascot later on *)
Comments: Slaughteration yesterday. Hopefully today's lot can do better. Newcastle 2-1 Valuable Asset - one presumes that Dale Spriggs has taught his son how to sit on a horse. If so then the 4kg claim will help a lot. The only danger looks like Tim Martin's first starter. Newcastle 3-8 Zazabeau was a beaten POOMA and favourite last time. Is bred in the purple and his owner, the great Data Tan Chin Nam, would want to see him live up to some of that in this race. Tamworth 7-11 Dawlodge won easily last time at Gunneda in a non-TAB race. Jumps a fair bit in grade and doesn't seem very well placed so I might let him run against me. Toowoomba 1-6 Orpen Angel has led them up at two runs from a spell and finished 2nd. Will be up the front again and should go close though she'll be short.
Black Book: Canterbury 2-4 Hairy is a dual acceptor and has chosen this race. Worked hard to lead last time and only weakened late. This is harder but will be a chance at odds. Caulfield 3-7 Hasta Manana missed a run on Wednesday due to the meeting being cancelled after a couple of races. He was ridden as cold as Lucifer's heart last time and even though he's getting ready for jumps races I wouldn't be surprised to see him go OK at big odds. Caulfield 8-4 Guild didn't managed to lead last time and was a bit disappointing. Looks pretty well placed here. Eagle Farm 2-7 Laletta won easily again last time at Rocky. Her only run in town was an average effort but maybe she'd trained off. This is a tough race but I think she can win at nice odds. Eagle Farm 4-8 Miss Shalaqing made it 3/3 at Gosford last time. She's drawn off the track but has enough speed to lead so should go close.

Comments: After a few days without a selection we have a fair few today including at Darwin. We'll probably need a couple to win to finish in front.
Black Book: None today.

SELECTIONS - 3 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
There are no POOMA selections today
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ascot 5-1, 5-2, 6-6, 8-3, 8-7, 9-3
Cranbourne 5-12, 6-5, 6-11
Grafton 1-1, 6-6, 8-2
(* Any updates at Ascot later on *)
Comments: Another day with nothing much to back apart from the black booker unless something comes out once Ascot is updated.
Black Book: Ascot 7-8 Cagey Lady got home strongly to win a provincial race before a good run at Ascot. They probably went to the well once too often last run and she went for a spell. Has run 2nd at both first up runs and as this is only a RB67 race I expect her to go well though Paul Harvey on board means that we'll get a lower price than I would want.

SELECTIONS - 2 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
There are no POOMA selections today
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Balaklava 3-12
Bunbury 4-6
Newcastle 5-7
Sandown 6-14
(* Any updates at Bunbury later on *)
Comments: Unless a selection comes out once Bunbury details are in there'll be no POOMAs today. I don't like the look of any of the meetings so am happy to sit the day out.
Black Book: Sandown 6-3 Hasta Manana is obviously getting ready for the big jumping races but was ridden as cold as a fisho's fridge last time when only beaten 6L. He might be going around for practice again but he'll be e/w odds so I'll have a little on him. Sandown 8-7 Samdji went really poorly last time after a good first up effort. Perhaps the step up in trip will suit but I think he's going to be hard pressed to beat the Tony Noonan trained favourite, Diario, which was very impressive last time.

SELECTIONS - 1 April 2008
POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])
Albany 1-12 Western Navajo [10]
Albany 6-12 Jessdekate [10]
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Albany 1-9, 3-3, 7-5
Colac 2-12, 3-3, 6-2, 8-1, 8-9
Randwick 1-1, 2-1
(* Any updates at Albany later on *)
Comments: Albany 1-12 Western Navajo improved for 2nd last time after a couple of even runs from a spell. On the heavy track it's anyone's guess which horses will handle it, as they don't get a lot of them over in the west. Will be fit so should run an OK race. Albany 6-12 Jessdekate has drawn the extreme outside gate here and is going to need to find a good spot in order to get home. I don't have a problem with backing horses drawn wide - that's where the value tends to be - but I don't like backing them from the extreme outside gate. She'll be good odds, though, so if she's double figures then I'll have a go.
