POOMA selections (Location Race#-TAB# Horse [system/s])

There are no POOMA selections today

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Doomben 3-1

Comments: 1 from 3 yesterday returning $5.30. I was happy with the price available for Apple Crumble in the first at Geelong, as the backing had come for the Mayfield-Smith trained first starter, Embracing. I saw that one's trial and wasn't overly impressed even though it won so thought that Rich Forever was the danger to us. Unfortunately, it was too good by a bit over a length. At Coffs Harbour, Heavenly Glow was strongly backed on course but ran like a three-legged centipede to finish unplaced behind one that was heavily backed on the TAB. It was then down to our last POOMA, Miss Hijinx, at Canterbury. She went for an absolute bath in the betting but defied the drift and arrived in the last hop paying $5.30. She got out to an SP of $7.50 after opening around $4.50 but she didn't know that punters were against her, bless her mighty, David Hayes' trained heart. The non-POOMA yesterday also managed to get home at a useful $16, which helped me to the quaddie at Geelong. A very boring day today and there's not much that excites me. You would think that Queanbeyan 5-1 Halo's Choice would be able to win. He has 59kg and steps up to 1200m but it's not likely that any of his opposition could get within 5L of Desert Lad. The non-POOMA today, Doomben 3-1 Fergal, comes from a system that's currently dead on 40% s/r but doesn't generate much of a profit. If form means anything then there's a potential running double at Ballarat in 1-3 and 2-1. Trigonometry ran 3rd to Swain's World last time and they're both well placed. Our previous $12 POOMA winner, Miss Aristocrat, runs around in race 3 there and is up against the filly she defeated, Ana's Mail, from the Hayes' stable. She meets that horse a couple of kilos worse and Craig Williams has the ride on Tease Me so you'd think that horse would probably start favourite.
