SELECTIONS - 15 April 2005

Albury 1-7 Super Celeb comes out of a pretty strong Maiden at Echuca last time out. He camped behind the leaders and kept finding the line in a quickly run race. I expect they won't bustle him along early as much this time. He'll settle midfield and round them up in the straight.

Albury 5-1 Count Verdi is pretty well in this race coming off a Hawkesbury Class 2 win over this trip last time. Young Lai rides him well enough and he's drawn to get a nice run.

Albury 6-1 Box Head Prince is one of my favourite horses and has a terrific record of 12 wins from 31 starts most under big weights. He's also won 6 from 11 at the trip with a further 3 placings. Honest, talented horses such as this fellow are the ones that make punters' lives just a tad easier. Has 'only' 58.5kg in this and will be right there at the business end fighting the race out.

Albury 7-1 Personal Image won this race last year with the same weight. He's another of those previously mentioned punters' friends with his 10 wins from 33 starts. Has had 2 wins and 2 placings from 4 runs at the track and is 2 from 7 at the trip. Is coming off wins at Flemington and Caulfield where he's steamed home to win. He won from 11 last year, gets 7 this year and is reunited with last year's winning jockey, Nick Souquet. Quinella horses are Davidoff, who is in good form.

Bendigo 1-1 Endless Waltz put in a terrific run at the big Terang circuit over 1000m last time when coming from 10th on the home turn to run 4th behind the very smart Tonz More Fun. The winner has subsequently come out again and thrashed them as a $1.40 shot at Warracknabeal. Of the other three to race, Reteps comes out of a weak race and boxed on after being wide and copping a prat in the straight when 5th. Kloknbull is out of the really good filly, Klokka, which might get people in but he would want to have improved on his only start last preparation. He's only little, also, so he'd need to have grown. Molfetta comes out of what looks like a strong city race behind Testafiable but really only plugged to the line. All of the raced runners except for Endless Waltz will press forward and this will put a lot of speed into the race, which will help our pick over the last furlong.

Bendigo 9-5 Little Darling is in a race where there only look to be a few chances. Is from the in-form Andrew Noblet stable, will sit handy to the pace and should be right in the finish.

Townsville 2-2 Swinging The Blues has obviously enjoyed the move from NSW to the sunny climes of north Queensland, as she'd never run a place from 8 starts south of the border and has now a win and 4 placings from her last 5. Obvious danger is the topweight.

Townsville 5-1 Crafty's Brother is due to break his duck shortly and won't get a much better chance than this. Has drawn the inside gate, which will give him a run just off the speed so that he can pop off the fence and run them down in the straight. Always sounds good in theory!

Townsville 8-6 Troubeaut is another who has appreciated coming north, as she's won her only two starts at the track including seriously thrashing a Class 2 F&M field in very smart time last run. Will actually need to step up again to win this but Roy Chillemi has a knack of getting a horse to win multiple races in a row as it goes through the grades.
