Bathurst 6-9 Instant Hero was terrific first up at Warwick Farm and then didn't appear to handle the wet track last time (though he's by Covetous and should have). It's unusual to see a horse debut, and then win, as a 5YO so he might have had problems. Only needs to run up to his first up run to win here.
Bathurst 7-2 Delta Eagle has one win from 15 starts but has placed at his last 4 and gets the chance to go one better here. The rest are mostly in and out types so unless one of them runs out of their skin Delta Eagle should get home.
Muswellbrook 5-3 Queen Jill comes off a win at the Gold Coast in a tougher race than this. With the claim for young Morgan, who has had one ride on her for a win, the 4YO mare should be extremely tough to beat in this.
Muswellbrook 6-13 The Little King thrashed them at Armidale last time. Steps up in grade here but you'd have to say that not many of these are in terrific form and from his good draw he will be in the firing line all the way. Good each way chance.
Penola 7-6 Sanctuary Miss had a let up before running 7th at Oakbank over the carnival as a 13/8 favourite. A lot of horses don't go down the hill there so it's worth overlooking the run. Two starts back she was a winner in Class 4 company at Morphettville and drops in weight here. Should position nice and handy, which you need to do at this track, and be right in the finish.
Pinjarra 2-12 Kim Joy looks a strong chance in this after her close up 2nd in this grade last time. Danger looks to be Our Solid Bond.
Pinjarra 4-16 What A Blonde has a couple of strong placings at her only two runs. The step up to a mile will suit nicely. She does need to overcome her wide gate but Pinjarra is a spacious track where horses can win from anywhere.
Pinjarra 5-1 The Quartermaster drops back from metropolitan company to provincial grade for this race (though the difference in class is not as pronounced as the eastern states). Two starts back he won convincingly over this course with the same weight. He's hard fit and will be in the finish.
Pinjarra 7-4 Mas Merah won well at Bunbury on debut and then was narrowly beaten at Pinjarra last time on a heavy track in Class 2 company. Drops back to Class 1 here and that should see her get home.
Warracknabeal 2-1 Tonz More Fun went to the front and led all the way last time to win a stronger race at Terang last time. All Primmer has to do is fire him to the front from gate 1 and hold on.
Warracknabeal 3-5 Federov is first up from the in form Darren Weir stable, has drawn the inside gate and has Brad Rawiller on top. I reckon this one will go OK.
Warracknabeal 8-4 Swan Hill Symphony followed up a nice Maiden win at Penola with a strong 3rd at Hamilton in a similar quality race. Will be further improved and tough to beat.
Yarra Valley 3-3 Dancer's Tale is going to be good odds in this race, as the topweight will probably start short. However, that horse still needs to step up a level from his last win to match Dancer's Tale's ratings. Dancer's Tale had his first start over the longer trip last start when he drew 12 of 12, worked early up outside the leader, took over half way through the race and was only run down in the last couple of hops. He'll be cherry ripe for this so we'll go with him.
Yarra Valley 8-3 Special Number is a pretty consistent performer with 5 wins from 13 starts. Carved across to the lead from his outside gate 11 at Caulfield last time and only got tired over the last 100m but boxed on well. I expect he'll cross to the lead here and be hard to catch around the tight Yarra Valley circuit.
Yarra Valley 9-1 Abitakash cost us Abitamoney last time when he was beaten as a 1/2 favourite at Sale. The step up in trip will suit and he should open his winning account here.
