Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Ballarat 6-6, 7-1
Northam 5-3
Today: Driving back to Melbourne this morning so no post-scratching analysis. He may be a 9YO but Carael Boy showed with his last start win that he's not a spent force. He won the Wyong Cup last year and returns today with another 2.5kg. He deadheated in the Newcastle Cup a couple of runs after his Wyong victory last year, which is where he gets his extra weight impost. Mr Mister will probably lead them up and be hard to run down and Hippona keeps on improving also. At Ballarat, 7-3 First Cru was particularly impressive last time, which I commented on at the time, and looks to be a real chance. 6-2 Aye Bee ran 2nd to First Cru last time so if he runs well in the previous race then that will be a guide to First Cru's chances. 2-1 Drac's Back looks a likely winner. He ran out of puff late when first up last time and he's won both of his 2nd up starts.
Yesterday: Wet tracks really made it a difficult day to find a winner. At Doomben, Pentup started favourite and finished 3rd. I'd forgive the run and back up on him on a dry track. In the last at Wyong Hollaback started a 1/2 favourite and never really looked like beating Regansburg. She's a 3YO filly in an Open Class 1. She would probably have won the 1200m F&M Maiden so it makes you wonder why they tried her in the harder race even if it was over slightly longer. Nothing else really caught my attention.
POOMAs: There were no POOMA selections yesterday.
