POOMA selections:
Swan Hill 4-2 Politburo
Swan Hill 5-1 Emergence
Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):
Gundagai 3-2
Swan Hill 7-8
Taree 1-5
Today: I reckon 90%+ of people couldn't tell me where Gundagai, Swan Hill and Taree are, even if I gave them a 50 mile margin of error. I had a horse racing at Gundagai some years ago in a Maiden. It started favourite and ran 3rd behind a horse from the Ken Callaughan stable at Goulburn that was having its first start - Triko. She turned out to be a very good multiple city winner so it was unlucky to bump into her at Gundagai. Two POOMAs at Swan Hill today with the first, Politburo, coming back to the mile from his last start 2000m win three weeks ago. He was unlucky when 3rd at this track and trip two starts back, as he didn't get clear until late. His form has been generally good and he'll be finishing hard here. Emergence finished 5th in the race won by Politburo and is also back in trip to a mile and drops to Class 2 company, which is the lowest he's been in lately. He's no star but neither are the rest of them and should be each way value. The POOMAs have a good record at Swan Hill, which I've commented on previously, with 8 wins from 14 selections at 132% profit. Hopefully one of these two can do the right thing and keep the stats up.
Yesterday: The only performance that I thought was notable yesterday came in the first race at Cranbourne when Galactic Gun (who Tony Brassel tipped off his trial performance) came with a strong run at his first start to win at $10 and beat a handy Maiden field. Apart from that it was a typical Sunday arvo.
POOMAs: Cheree's General did the right thing for us landing the prize narrowly (sht 1/2 hd x sht hd) at $3.20 on NSW TAB although she started at $4 so if you got Best Odds then you did well. Our other selection, Sunrise Song, didn't finish off the race and ended up in 4th place. Another profitable POOMA day.
