SELECTIONS - 1 November 2006

POOMA selections:

Werribee 1-2 Aurelio
Werribee 8-2 Ulysses (only if the track is upgraded to good!)

Non-POOMA selections (and ruffies in red below):

Taree 5-1, 7-3

Today: Right. A new month. Let's see if we can't put ourselves back on track after copping a hammering last month. At Werribee, 1-2 Aurelio drops 47 grades and can surely break his maiden status today even if he has been a tad weak at the end of those stronger races. 8-2 Ulysses is the best horse in the Werribee Cup and is ideally placed in this race. He's drawn a poor gate yet again to follow up on his 10, 13, 10 & 13 lately. His last run, and his first up run, were on wet tracks and he is one of the worse wet trackers in the history of racing, as his zero placings from 12 goes in the wet shows. His last 10 runs read 1821620960 but it you take out the wet runs then it's 7221121626, which obviously looks a heap better. Craig Williams is on fire as was shown by his effort to get FOO home in the Cox Plate and I reckon any price better than $6 is terrific e/w value. Of course, if the track is dead then he's no hope!

Yesterday: Wasn't much to get too carried away about though I did think that the win of Partysinga in the last at Kilmore was pretty impressive for a mare that's going to be better suited over longer.

POOMAs: What a pain in the bum. Five selections for a 2nd and three 3rds. Doesn't get much more frustrating than that...
